"i never have said and never will say that anyone is beneath me..."
See "-2 for lack of effort" thread from a few days ago started by you. If that's not acting as if someone is beneath you, I don't know what is!
Anyway, to answer your question, I went to an art (high) school in Minnesota and ended up not even going to college. I'm sure it helped me prepare for a new media career in some ways, although I can't really think of anything off hand.

oh give me a break. just because i thought it was unprofessional to show up at an interview in dirty clothes doesnt make me an asshole. i think thats a really legit topic to bring up. lately i think a lot of people throw common sense out the window when it comes to interviewing... and they wonder why they dont have a job. i think 95% of the potential empoloyers he has or will interview with would say the same thing if he showed up the same way.
i dont think that means i think im so above him. i just think he has a lack of repect for the company i work for.
i guess i have to hire everyone who walks in the door just for the fuck of it... right? get real.

frankly, im sick of this sexist designer bullshit from most of you guys. i can do no right because im a girl... and for whatever reason i seem to get a lot of attention (which you hate). i dont know if its jealousy or pure dislike for women... but i cant make sense of any of it.
but i think some of you have got to get over yourselves. who are you to pass judgement on my character? if anything i would say that makes you just as guilty as you think i am.
i dont know how many times i have to say i think of myself if anything as an equal to any of you. fuckoff if you want to say i think otherwise. There are plenty of people on here that get caught doing the "im so awesome... look at me" on this messageboard.
but i suppose it really doesnt matter what some of you want to make me out to be. it's sort of like the high school lunch room sort of thing going on. someone's gotta hate on you.
the people who matter/are cool and the ones i respect would never think of me as a pompous asshole. because it simply is not true.

my mate already decided he wanted to be a designer anyways in grade 10, so he dropped fkn high school and went straight to uni [or college to some of you].. and he has turned out better than most of the graduates at my uni, plus hes ahead of everyone by 2-3 years..
to me, i think, it really doesnt matter what school you go to... if you know what you want, and you are more than willing to work your ass off for it, and also have the oppurtunity, you take it, and go with it...
the way i see it goin to a "special high school geared more towards the arts", is pretty much starting uni/college a few years earlier, just that youve decided what career you want at an earlier age... high school is just a time where youre still unsure what ya want/like... bah, [ends rambling] in the grand scheme of things, it doesnt matter, its 2-5 years of your life, and whether you graduate when youre 18, 22, or 28, it doesnt matter
sorry for long post, just my opinion :)

thats also true nRIK.
a lot of people ive met really didnt have a solid idea of what they wanted to do until soph. year of college. having your parents pay for a private school or even an art college until youve figured yourself out would be if anything repectful to your parents. being a wasteful person for the fuck of it is kinda lame.

yea, thats why i am very grateful that i know [or at least have a plan for] what i want to do, and respect those who have the same aspirations and ambition.
those who "waste" time in college or "special schools", probably can afford it [or at least their parents can], and thats maybe the way these kids have always been. But im not one to judge [just speaking from experience here]... yea sure, maybe in your eyes that education can go to someone who had wanted it but didnt have the oppurtunity, but what can you do about it... its their choice, and thats life; unfair. it also doesnt really make them bad people, they may have a different view on life, and are just going for the experience...
but hey, as i said, in the bigger picture, it doesnt matter... the kids who want what they want will get it one way or another :)

some of the most talented and inspiring people i know came from a 'special' high school in toronto.. and they're very lucky for it. i think anything that gives kids an opportunity to discover something they're passionate about at a young age is great.
going to a regular high school is fine too [i did]... but i think those kids have to be a little bit more resourceful... because its so easy to have no clear direction and find yourself in your last year in univ not knowing what the hell you want to do with your life.
- nRIK0
yea i agree nick
some of my mates, have just been working [coffee shop, coles, etc] their asses off for 2-3 years now along with completing uni... now were in our final year, just passing thru with 3s, and 4s, and i dont think they even like what theyre doing, and are probably in it just for the money... another friend of mine just dropped out, and decided to do advertising/business instead :\
which is sorta sad, cuz theyve come so close to the end, but they just realised what theyre doin was quite right for them..

maybe i should mention, that as a danish citizen i got paid about a $1k at month when i went studying and school was free as well..
it's not a student loan or anything, just a monthly paid, and everybody gets it
i can do that 6 years, then i'm on my own after that.. so i still got 3 years left to spend..
thinking of getting an MA actually.. but nevermind thati think that it's a great way to give an even opportunity to everybody get the education you like and you even have a chance to change your mind after one year and still get your MA in the end with paying anything yourself

we have a great system in the states. I borrowed a 100,00 from the government and i will pay it back until the day I die but I hear it beats Cambodia's system where you stay poor forever.

I went to the same "elite" east coast boarding school as Bill Bellechick, George Bush, Humphrey Bogart and Jack Lemon, then skipped college and wasted years of my life
- shellie0
