say is it just me? or have i become totally worn out by the media? or is it just that it seems that there's no more war going on in iraq if i look at the media on this topic? what was frontpage news once is now downgraded to some page somewhere in the back. does this mean no one cares anymore?

I had to take a serious break after the election. No Slate, no CNN, no AP, BBC, Drudge. I felt the same way, overwhelmed by an entity wanting me to /care/ about crap while ignoring important issues.

it's just that i suddenly was thinking about why the hell is there a war anyways? no one seems to care anymore. it's like numbness. ah forget the wmd's. forget the fact that iraq has nothing to do with it all.

dont politicians tell what to put on newspapers to control the masses? i thot everyone knew this...anyway everyone knows the death and moeny laundering is out there and just gives up on it, to be happy with their kids, before they all blow up. Thats the general feeling i get from people with kids. People with kids being, i believe, the masses.
whatelse..oh yeah, I guess you are upset that people arent being told the "right" thing to keep in mind. Different day, different shit..so _they_ say. I believe everyone is switching to surfing drudgereport anyway..screw tv and newspapers. I hope something was contributed through this message

well it's the same media that now tells the deathtoll for the day in the same fashion as the weather report or the nasdaq instead of treating it as news.

actually we make the media. if not why do magazines like the sun and the globe exist? i guess there are millions of people out there who want to know what mel gibson have for breakfast last week and those millions of people drive the media crazy, like when brad and jen broke up. wtf is wrong with people?

rabattski, people still care, maybe about different things like Tsunami relief or issues at home...but as far as the war goes, Americans know Bush is deadset in his ways, and that he feels (he's admitted it) that his re-election ratified and justified the war.

which news are you watching / reading?
i read an interesting article in the independant today by robert fisk about how it's so dangerous in baghdad at the moment that nearly all reporters are reporting from their hotels. reporters have to call the army to get any "facts" because if they leave their security they will probably get kidnapped. which suits the army because then it shows how bad "terrorism " is whilst also meaning they can report whatever "facts" they like, with no way of verification.
fucking shit situation, which ever way you look at it.
the elections are soon aren't they?

Once the sensationalism and hype drop off the radar, then it's no longer newsworthy. Mad hype = ad revenue. Yesterday's news = page 12 underneath the 1/8 pg. BW flea market ad.
The media drives me up the wall. I used to read the paper, and stay tuned into CNN all day long. The crap they churn out just got so boring, I soon started reading news from BBC and AfricaOnline before I just stopped "staying informed" by actively pursuing "news" altogether. One way or the other, the media will find a way to let me know what's going on so long as I continue to live my life on American soil and expose myself to newspapers, internet access, television radio or water cooler chat at work.

WTF IS WRONG WITH BRAD!
but anyway....we are a very very very small minority, I don;t believe I can even enter the state of mind of a regular person with a god knows what kind of lame job.
I think the reason why you see 2 minute blurb on 25 gis getting bombed at the iraqi school opening, and then 5 min segment on furry critters in underpants...is also the same reason why D&D and Sims are popular

Is Iran next? Great article in the New Yorker by Seymour Hersh. I read that the White House is going after him now.

i have quite a huge media intake from various sources. although i admit it has dropped down a lot because it's what i think is media fatiqueness. now you might find this odd, but i just had a small whisky and i was just randomly thinking, why the hell is there a war in iraq? why can't they just go home and leave those people alone? and why do i have to take a lot of effort to find news about it? i think certain people are happy with this status quo of no one really thinking it aanymore. and indeed where brad and jen's brake up is more important.

what i find totally disturbing is when i mention to people that i neither have cable, nor want it, they look at me like i'm insane.
very scary stuff

i pay for cable only to watch the discovery and history channels.

also there was a lot of hype before the us elections and now that bush is back in there's not as much pressure on the us govt, sadly. we've still got our elections coming up in the uk but tony has already won because the oppostition is so shit, so again its easier to "forget" about iraq now.

they show PBS on WTTW 11..wow isnt that the coolest channel name or wot..anyway
last nite was about personalities of fish, it was so cool
