name calling is bad here, I could name some names about the name calling, but then again that would be calling someone out.

you soooo lost me there buddy....
- mrdobolina0
JazX, if you were my employee, you would probably be fired for all the time you spend on NT.

;)

some touchy bottoms round here lately
- JazX0
see, the thing is, I work as a contractor on purpose. it suits my needs of taking off when I want to and having the freedom of working from home, when in reality doing side projects. hence, 70% of my workday time on NT.

salisae changed her pic, damn. :P

FYI: American Express hasn't pulled their "Laird Hamilton" commercial off air yet.
- d5ive0
And that's cool. Why should they? I see no connection, myself.
- xaoscontrol0
I thought they were going to be more tsunami footage from other occurances...then I saw this surfer bustin' the glide and I was like....ahhhh...okay...
I personally didn't even make a connection....nor did I get upset or felt like it was in poor taste. maybe it was PC/non-PC call...who knows?
- _salisae_0
although, d5ive, you didn't post at all in the quake disaster thread.
has it affected you at all?
- TransFatty0
the feeling i get from reading all this,
is that people arent sure how to handle their grief regarding all this death .....
they are quick to pass
judgement on mr. drohans
news item,
or a tv commercial ....
instead of dealing with the thoughts in their own heads.it's easy to do this,
but not easy to deal with
the anxiety that comes from an event such as this.also i get the feeling that
accusing someone of something,
in this case mr. drohan,
they get a chance to let others know that they "care" --
it gives them a momentary platform to define for others how caring they are.just an observation.

True dat Transfatty. You summed up everything I wanted to say.
BTW, your "Riders on the Storm" during the last hurricane was brilliant. :p
- _salisae_0
brown noser.
transfatty - can i have a hug?
- xaoscontrol0
good call, trans
It's tradgic, I agree. But I can never feel as much pain as someone who's got a direct connection to that region or is from that region.
Not to be diminished is the feeling that anyone gets when thier life is devistated by natural disasters. All those people in the carribbian, florida...those people can relate more than us inlanders or those in land locked regions.

Yeah d5ive, I posted that cuz there really isnt any connection. Same footage and same ocean, it just has American Express stamped on it. People have probably watched it on TV right after they posted a reply to this thread and thought nothing of it cuz they were eating dinner waiting for the football game to show up.
I have been out on very big days in San Diego especially after storms. 15 -20 foot swells at Seaside, Carlsbad. And I have wiped out on more than one occassion on those days. Being underwater for 20 seconds feels like 20 mins. Then finally making it to the surface only to be pushed down again. So if all else, the people who appreciate the video footage are the same people who can actually feel the pain the victims went thru and suffering of their friends and family.
So for the people who disagree with d5ive, just ignore the post and come monday, hit "Previous" and watch the footage in a different light.
- d5ive0
That was the most intelligent post I've read, Trans. Thanks.
I guess I've experienced a lot of stuff in my 31 yrs; watched a friend die in front me, pulled a man out of a plane intake, partake in a war, watch three of my beautiful children be born and almost died myself a few times. So maybe I look at things a little differently than others? But one thing I've learned is that I respect other people and their opinions, but I don't tolerate people that try and force their beliefs on me or others. Life is too short, as we all can see in this current tragedy.
