my love for architecture goes from Parthenon lesson of order and balance to Coop Himmelblau's deconstructivist exercises.
But that's a mockery of a building. It's not a unit. It's collection of compromises when a strong statement was in so dire need.
It's still not too late.

well said unfit. the original was much more cohesive for sure, but i don't think the eventual structure is all that bad, just maybe a little misguided. maybe in the future people will look back at the building and all the shit swirling around it and say "yup, that was america in the years after 9/11....severely confused and politcially divided."

Libeskind believes that the 'new architecture' will be one of democracy.
Basically, that's what happened, a big power struggle with the big boys trouncing everyone (and the little guys left suing the big thugs).There is still time. Or perhaps at this time it'd just be better to let it rest for a few years, then think about it again.
Personally, I didn't like any of the entrants all that much.
