i have a table with 100% width.
i have a table for navigation floating to the left inside the above table
another table inside the main table with content.for some reason the navigation loads to the left and the content to the right of the navigation in firefox but not in IE. why is it doing this and how do i fix it?

it could be a bunch of different reasons, we need to see it...and why not change those table to divs...?

are you floating *both* inner tables. both should be both set to float left, with the nav being the first table in the document flow. and don't 'position' either table.
by the way, the outer, 'main' table seems pointless.
and before everyone and his dog says this, i'll get in there first - you shouldn't be using tables for layout.

whoa, no offence man, but you have a lot of unecessary code there.
i've had a play, and as i said, you need to float both of your containers, the nav, and the content. i tried that and it worked in IE and Mozilla. try it. if you still can't get it give me a shout and i'll send you my file.

I'm trying something along the same lines with DIVs...two-column format...The left column needs to be a fixed width, but the right column needs to fill the rest of the screen.
I set the left column for 100px and float left and the right column for 100% and also float left. In Safari and Firefox it works fine, but in IE6 PC it bumps the right column down below the left column. Any fixes for that?

i was actually told to make it look like it. at least it's not going to be used as a website.
