Jewelboxing and EPSON
anyone try this combo? we ordered a couple hundred cases all very cool indeed but the paper they send you absorbs the ink of our 1280 and looks pretty bad. of course the coated epson branded double sided stuff looks great but then we are back to a straight edge and an x-acto; kind of the whole reason i was attracted to jboxing was to get away from that.
so here is my real questions: those of you who are using the perfed forms jewlboxing supplies and are getting good results, what are you using to print?

same deal here...
i ended up scrapping the paper, printing from templates, and slicing with the x-acto

anyone using a non-epson and finding good or bad results?
- jpea0
I would assume that it's that way with any inkjet... the only diff in color quality i've found between mine and my roommates HP was because of paper coating.

just got mine today, so i dont have an answer yet. im looking forward to some more thoughts.

Have you tried a laser printer? Do you know if it works better?
- saintlukas0
sherman: let us know when you get some printed...i'd hate to have to send the stuff back, but if i have to buy all new paper and hand cut, there's no way i'm paying full price just for some plastic cases, i dont care how nice they are.
no response from the jewelboxing folks either, day 3...they responded VERY quickly and courteously when I inquired about making an order...oh well

good post. i was waiting to hear feed back on this cause i was going to get some but if thats the case screw that i will come up with someother way. keep posting feed back and let us know if they do email you back what their answer is.

well, no reply from the gentlemen at jewelboxing. i'm seriously considering sending the stuff back, and going generic, 20 disk cardkits from staples, print at home, save the money.
unless there is someone with a color laser printer in the Philly area who wants to give me a better price than kinkos, and help a guy out. anyone?

Reading this has put me off buying from them. Was thinking about it but sounds like if you have a problem they don't wanna know.

we use the jewelboxing system here... we print on the provided templates on our xerox phaser 7300 laser printer and they look as good as in house printing will allow.

I've been using our laser print and it works fine...

i still havent had a chance to get the printing done and it will be a while still as i havent had a chance to even get the mix recorded. i will be getting to this in the next few weeks.
however, my thoughts are.
anyone could do this on their own with out the jewelbox packing. the package is just jewelcases with some perferated paper. Depending on how cds many you plan to you could do this on your own. however it may have a more professional look if you use this product. i guess it all depends on your time and if you choose to hand cut the paper ect.i bought them because i though it would be a good overall package to give to someone for christmas.
other companies offer more creative jewel casing, this is just the barebones pacakge.
anyway, i hope to hear more feedback as well. although ive already paid for mine.

well I did just hear back from them, with apologies for the lost email the first time. looks like they are still in the search for a perfect universal paper. he offered to exchange it for some different paper that they wont have till the end of the month (which i'd rather not wait for) or a full refund, and made some suggestions regarding printer settings.
although I'm not sure what I'll decide yet to wrap this project, I would say that I am pleased with the response I got, and I don't feel that the company is turning a blind eye to the issue. Pending results of their new paper they are having brought it, I would probably do business with Jewelboxing again.
Still looking for someone with a laser printer in Philly as another option....

I've used them for three different projects and have been very pleased with them. The cases themselves are excellent. They have a very 'substantial' feel... nice and heavy. There are fancier cases out there, but these are so versatile that I have ordered extras for future projects.

i have worked with jewelboxing before, their papers aren't worth shit, laser and injet both come out like crap, since thats what brought me to them was the fact eveything was precut and ready to use, i was hoping for the best, but all the perforations and scores would get printed over, (IE, no ink on the paper), I used a commercial printer as well and no luck. Plus i think that the paper was a little to think anyways for what it was going into, and it had no gloss and looked kinda dull, so i printed out on 28lb semigloss, had them all cut to size and it worked. I emailed them about the problem and they offered to refund me $35 on the paper. I havent send it back yet but i have been making bday card out of the inserts.
