I've seen comments in resume tips, do's&don't, where you don't include the "objective" line any longer, that's a thing of the past. And so on you enphasize more on your industry skills at the top of the page.
Anyone who doesn't have a "objective" can confirm with me that this is also the case for graphic design.
thanks

i always slam in the objective in my resumes. answers are standard issue though. it's either "becoming rock god", "promote comic sans worldwide" or "learn to tap dance". and yes i'm not employed.

objectives can go in your cover letter. not on your resume.

Objective: My objective, swearing by the hammer of Thor, will be to design so good you want to shit your pants but you can't because they're fine Italian wool.

It can go either way. there are no rules. Just sell yourself.
I have an objective on mine. Its one sentence, clear, and totally fucking awesome.

I put my objective in there just because it's necessary. If you're at an agency and they've got a ton of CV's they send out, shouldn't yours tell the person on the other side that you're only interested in Freelance positions?
That's what it's for IMO. Other than that, your objective should probably be in your cover letter.
I usually format my CVs like this..
Name/Rank/Serial #
Objective
Skills (software, code, system)
Employment
Notable Endeavors
EducationA CV above all else should be PLAIN and LEGIBLE. You would be amazed at how many people go for the //...EDU_CATION..\\ style formatting. Or add in background images, or just fuck around with it till it looks like road kill. Make sure everything is spelled correctly and no widows! It's not a style contest. that's your portfolio.

this might sound dumb, but the objective line is....subjective. use it if you want to. i do, and get plenty of work. just use it well, make your objective clear and concise. there's nothing wrong with playing with type a little bit, my header is a bit expressive. overall, its all about the quality of information within the resume, not what headigns you use.
