You can buy both versions on DVD, try to find a way to see it in the theatre... it's an experience.

ok. saw it again since a long time yesterday. the new release is aceand the aestehetics are absolutely great and marvellous. the story is, well, halfcooked - but still worth some thoughts.
i personally like the scene the most when THX sits in the cell asking questions and the answers come from the tape. that made me shiver...

i have just seen it 2 hours ago on a filmfestival. the directors cut(2004).
i am not feeling the political/social message as being the unique quality of the movie, as it's been done countless times before and after the original release..(in 1970) (see Metropolis, 1984 etc.etc.etc.).
To me, what really was inspiring and outstanding in it's quality was the extremely tight photography/graphics of it all.... somehow it felt more like a Kubrick flick then a Lucas one.. altho i must admit i have never seen any other movie of Lucas before (never seen any starwars..).
my friend's immediate response after the movie was "damn. would love to have some superhigh resolution prints of some stills".. i had to agree... some (a lot actually!) of them are really worth filling a wall or two with!
ACE.

i just finished watching it, and to be honest.....im so glad Lucas did not overplay the special effects on this. it had the right amount and touch to the film and i really believe this dvd is a masterpiece...
but the principal photography and visual effects were astounding....

oh, i believe it was just called "THX - the directors cut" here..
wonder what the original release looked like...

haven't seen the new cut, saw the old one and I really enjoyed it, the styling and the whole stark feel of it was right up my street.

the genesis of teh project was a student film lucas did?
not sure if the original footage was shot while he was a "student".
either way, looks like it will be worth checking out
disappointed he didn't revisit this style before making those last two star wars movies.

lol...that was one of the first things a friend said.. 'it has this feel of this designer'.. i said "starck" ..then he said: 'yeah, that's the one'.
but then, to me it looked judt like the modernistic feel of the era (missed big and bold helvetice though.. maybe that's better anyway!) and some strong parallels with Kubrick.
i can recommend it to anyone.

oh didn't know indiana jones was by lucas. yeah i have seen them.

on the bigscreen it was all extremely crisp and very, very good contrast.. i really wonder if they cleaned it up in the directors cut.

what a whiny bitching review.
this p0nk should stick to reviewing Beethoven and Babe. Please gfy.
during the movie about 20 people left.. but i was still fascinated by the photography.. audio and image.
for once, can simple-narrow-minded mcdonalds-mongering retards just set the whole "story-idea" aside and apreciate the atmosphere of a movie?? chrissst sake!!

hehe
well, it is the time of a geberatiob that forgot that there is grey between black and white
- DutchBoy0
unfortunatly yes, pascii..
i think these aren't the best times for great ideas that deviate from the mainstream..
*sigh*
