I'm almost at the end of my tether, in my studio I also have an IT/web programmer who is the lamest and most naff designer I have ever seen.
The problem is that he is far more senior then me, and is valuable in his programming knowledge. He thinks his opinion is the most important, and refuses to listen to any other music in the studio apart form crappy 70's rock or cheesey techno hard-house. He is 38, lives at home with his mum, is a big fatty and wears sandals with socks. You get the idea.
I'm not sure if i can take this any longer, and am ready to resign because i feel that he stifles creativity at any chance he gets because of his complete and utter disregard for anything slightly cultural and interesting.
Thanks for allowing me to vent, if anyone has any bright ideas, I'm all ears.

File a fake sexual harrassment suit against him and your employer. He'll get fired *and* you could get a fuckload of money. Sweet!

If there's no chance of him moving on to another job or departpent or position in the next 6-12 months, then plan your getaway.
standard steps...
Build portfolio, send resumes, organize interviews, get offer, quit job, shit in his desk drawer before you leave (preferably after a night of curry).

Or you could try to become an even bigger asshole then him.
Just don't forget building the portfolio if that doesn't work out.
- konspiracy0
why not mention to your bosses that he's stifling you.
failing that go for the shitting in a drawer and leaving.

Dude, that's nothin'.
I work with the senior who's camp as hell, can only talk about big brother/ fashion/ celebs/ his diet / plays Sclub7/ doesn't know who wrote "sympathy"/ thinks "under the bridge" was written by hormonal girls, fiddles with his wasted iPod that has about 40 tunes on it, and when given £300 of company money for OUR night out he booked us in at the fucking Rainforest Cafe in the Trocadero.

If he is really that bad, Shoot him down dead to the ground with a few witisisms call him a shit then leave with your head held high.

i know how you feel, it's a nightmare, but i kind of figured, if you like where you work, then you gotta just bite your tongue and get on with it, if you don't like someone at work, you don't have to talk to them outside work, but at work, you'll feel a lot better if you just try and rise above it. I've spent many month hating on people at work over the years, and it's better to just rise above them, seeing as they don't feel bad, why should you? its pretty self destructive, and of course, it's easier to blame them than to try and better yourself. It aint easy though, I've considered quitting many times, but i like the work i'm doing, so don't want to move to somewhere eles that probably has even more wankers.
