Downloaded a font from http://www.dafont.com/ and noticed that the size is 10px (specified with every pixel font)
Now I know this is because you can only display a font at the size intended, but in Flash they specify in pts not px. How do I translate 10px to point size?
Ta very much

just type 10px
??

you don't you gotta use it in the intended font size that the developer wanted it. generally speaking for pixel/bit-map fonts at like 9 or 10 or 8.

Thought of that Rasko but you can only type numbers in the property inspector box thing.
JazX I realise you have to keep it at the same size but on the site it says 10px whereas in Flash they deal with point sizes...

just bring it in and make it look crispy, you might want to check out the stuff at http://www.miniml.com the ones ar dafont can be bad

just remember to keep your object in even numbers in X and Y, so it is 100, not 100.12 etc.
this way you keep your font crisp and clean
and i always use size 8, not matter what pixel font i use.. it gives the best result

there is a good userguide here
http://www.fontsforflash.com/useā¦
it's for fonts from FontForFlash but it works fine other fonts too

FFF says "The 8 pixel setting..." but in the Flash index it says point size. This has helped and cleared it up though. Thanks all

1.) Keep your fonts left justified if you can.
2.) pt = px. (test that in illustrator / photoshop etc. etc (no difference)).
3.) Make sure the text field is placed on an EXACT pixel. (example: CORRECT WAY: x = 3.0, y = 3.0; WRONG WAY: x = 3.2, y = 3.4).
4.) If you're going to embed a text field into a movieclip - make sure you use the rules in number 3 above on the movieclip... BUT PLACE THE INITIAL text field on 0,0.
***DAFONT PIXEL FONTS ARE CRUDDY
I've tried a good portion of them in flash - you're going to run into issues such as filled in areas and bad kerning tables.
(example: the hole in the letter 'R' will be filled in - it doesn't matter if you're using dynamic data or you're using static text)
Be smooth - buy your fonts. :)
