hey im looking for some used DJ gear, wondering if any of you gentlemen and gentlerwomen had any for sale. Im learning on my friends CMX-3000 cd system, but i dont feel like forking out the grand for it.

I'll sell you my old Gemini Belt-Drive decks since I'm about to get me some used 1200's!
But it looks like you're going the CDJ route... so nevahmind!

I've got a turntable case [grundorf] i'd love to sell
- rasko40
not on cd's dude, get some 1210's and a numark.
- lvl_130
what rasko said. stay true to the roots yo. pick up final scratch if you want to mix cds as well. you could get it all for under $2000

dont buy belt drives... EVER. just fork over the money for some techs now & youll be happy you did. as for vinyl vs. cdjs. i would honestly consider buying two cdjs and one 1200. as much as I love vinyl... labels are going towards mp3s. little to no production cost, they can be distributed easily and so on. anyway my suggestion is to hit up ebay for some cdjs. the new techs are dope but will cost ya a pretty penny.

lvl you like final scratch?!?!
eh im not feeling it.

I've spun on belt drives for years. I agree, it was a poor choice. However the first time I jumped on the 1200's at a party, I was lockin' beats in a flash. It was funny because I couldn't believe the mix was holding and I kept checking my monitors to make sure it was still locked!
That was the best time I've EVER had... until I spin again that is.
Check your local raver websites for peeps looking to sell their decks. Nwtekno.org usually has a few people getting rid of equipment. But that usually only works if you're in the NW or they're willing to ship.

i personally don't own it but have used it. i think it works pretty slick. it kind of takes the fun out of finding those old gems on vinyl (since you can get pretty much anything on mp3) but i still say it's a good medium.

i dont have my heart set on cd tables, my friend has those and a set of tech12's. How much for your tables bro?

e-bay

Whatever you do, just make sure to skip the bpm counter on the mixer, especially if you are going to play at clubs in the future. You wanna learn to mix without that stuff.
- Gilt0010
Yeah, what pistollero said. Skip the "beat" light too. That's freakin' useless. Especially if you're spinning something thats NOT four on the floor.
I used it when I first started spinning, back in the hey days of Hard Trance (embarrassed).
I'm pretty sure you don't want my decks strabley. They suck. They're really only good for putting on a record and listening to it. But they are really good for learning how to handle a platter gently. I've got the lightest left hand touch around!!

^
not to mention they don't really work.go to your local record store. people are always selling their gear it seems. skip ebay though. my brother just got fucked out of a numark mixer that he had paid for but it somehow magically never got to him. there are a lot of bitches selling sketchy dj gear on ebay (not like that is much dif from anything else i guess) plus the shipping will kill you. they weigh like over 30 lbs. a piece.
- strabley0
word, im not looking to dj clubs or anything, really just for when my friends and i are hangin out drinking, we got something to play with. so im hearing that belt drive sucks for all apps right? i bout bought a numark dj in a box to play with, would that be a waste of $200, the max i wanna send is $350ish.
- lvl_130
in all honesty, i would just choke up the cash for the tech 12's. seriously. it's more money of course, but you will not be disapointed. besides those things are like gold tanks. you could own them for years and still sell them down the line for close to the amount that you bought them for in the first place.
seriously consider it. don't buy a dj pack. that's like buying an imac : )
- Gilt0010
But then again, some iMacs are perfectly suited for certain users. So if you and your boys just wanna throw down some tunes I'd at least recommend getting a set of anything that's direct drive. They make cheaper direct drive turntables. Like these:
http://www.platinum-records.com/…If you aren't too serious about it, I probably wouldn't avoid belt drives in the end.
- rasko40
belt drives do suck. you will regret buying them because when you have records, you want to scratch, and you CANNOT scratch on belt drives.
- skillet0
no scratching on belt drives, no mixing on belt drives those things just are NOT worth it. besides if you do drop the cash now and decide you hate it... techs have the same resale value as when you bought them. trust me its an expensive hobbie. 10 bucks everytime you want a new song. couple of new records a week turns into 3/4 of your paycheck in no time. its worse than a crack addiction! that is why i say cdjs. save ya a little cash untill you decide you like it.
- noop0
Enter response:yeah, seriously. belt drives suck. i don't think i've ever played on any before.
if you are serious buy some fresh (or slightly used) tech12's. if you aren't seriously, buy em anyway! they do indeed have a great resale value.
but stay away from cd decks in my opinion. you'll also get a ton of more cred by spinning real vinyl:)...but yeah it's expensive to keep up with
- lvl_130
no doubt an expensive hobby.
