Fox News here in the US have just redesigned their website.
First time I've ever seen a company of this stature ever publicly admit that the redesign effort was done for advertisers rather than the audience.
Usability gurus take note!

I first read this post as "Fox News Resigns" ...dont ask me why.
That might, seriously, be the worst website I have ever seen. Maybe even worse than this one:

Let's put it this way - I used to be associated with these guys and I had a conversation with a very high level VP over this very subject. The response...
"Well, we're a TV network with a website not a website with a TV network".
Ad Execs 2
General User 0And to think how much time these guys put into their on-air promo graphics and interstitials...

re: olli101
that's such a stupid excuse i can't believe the vp didn't stop mid-sentence upon hearing it vocalized.

See JazX's post above:
Fox = $$$$$$$$$
It's all about the revenue, baby.
- blaw0
i hear you.
it's just that from this angle it really doesn't seem that hard to understand... anything that represents your business needs to be 100%. do it or don't.

"anything that represents your business needs to be 100%. do it or don't."
Regretably from my experience in the industry nothing is done that way. Everything is a battle for ratings because ratings are what determines the $$ from ad sales. Art directors and creative directiors have almost no say, what is most important are three things:
1. Ratings and Promotions
2. Cost Effectiveness
&
3. It MUST be done on time.
(No such thing as a missed deadline in news land. You often have a day at most to turnaround a fairly large broadcast project)
