should be possible on osx. i've never done it but with the router i have i can define a specific port which can point to a computer behind the firewall for remote access. that as well as configuring the webserver on your mac for remote access. still you need to configure your router (if you have one) for remote access (which normally is off).

probaly with internet or to come to the sever i think

Turn on Personal File Sharing and Windows File Sharing on the Mac.
Set your router Firewall rules to allow AFP (Port 548) (and whatever windows file sharing uses?) to forward to the LAN IP address of your Mac.
Not sure what interface you are using on the PC, but enter the IP of your router (assuming you have a fixed IP here) to access the Mac.

You can also switch on remote administration (security risk) on the router which could make setup a bit easier as you could tune the home router settings from the PC at work.

hmm, i've got a win 2000 pro setup in work (beind a corporate firewall),
i can access my idisk though.mac, osx at home, the usb modem is straight into the mac, then ethernet out of the mac>router>LAN.
does that help?

ooh... bad setup you have at home. The router is downstream of the Mac? (I just convinced a friend to ditch that setup)
Using a USB modem into the Mac sucks, as you are using dialup protocols (drops the DSL connection on sleep, and all your connected wireless clients lose it too, right).
Have you though about getting a combo adsl modem/router/wireless basestation (they are getting cheaper)... that way the router always stays online, the wireles sis always online, and you just choose DHCP on each connected computer, and way less configuration hassles.
For remote access, since you dont have a router between DSL and Mac, you'll just choose the IP of your DSL connection (is it fixed IP?)
How are you accessing on the PC? ('Map Network Folder' to create a drive icon?)

or you could use Timbuktu.
Timbuktu is great, I once lived below this dole scum alcoholic loser who just sat around all day, I would Timbuktu into my machine at home, turn the volume up full then open simple text and start talking to George upstairs in the robot voice.. "George! Hello George! Get a job you degenerate loser, the world hates you George, you have no reason to live George"
I turned on the intercom mic so I could hear it aswell.. fucking hilarious :)

VNC baby! Open OSX up right on your PC desktop.

depends on what you want to do! If you want to access files, it is probably easiest to setup FTP "System Prefs >Sharing > Check FTP Access.
if your on a cable modem and have a Airport or other type of router you will need to setup PORT Forwarding.
if you want to "Control" your mac from your PC, you could use Timbuktu($$$) or VNC(FREE) just search macupdate.com for VNC and there is app called OSXVNC which is a VNC server then on the windows PeeCee go get realVNC from realvnc.com
they are pretty simple to use and FREE!!!

File Sharing over TCP/IP is nicer to use than FTP...it appears as just another folder on your desktop (or in Windows drive tree), so you can use all your usual tools, and the remote files appear in the Open and Save dialogs etc... nice and integrated.
I was going to recommend the Netgear DG834G.. I just got one..It's really nice and one of the first combo modem/router/basesations to support 54mbit speed.
D-Link dont do a 54mbit combo yet. Link Sys have a cheaper one, but Netgear is better quality.
