you know all the Egypt is a beautiful place, and ppl should go there. There is no danger.
All the fucking news broadcasting channels are deceiving shit. United Arab Emirates, is the middle east and a beautiful countries. It's little new york, no one rides camels, nor does anyone go around killing ppl there.
fuck cnn, fuck bbc, fuck all the news channels. Mother fuckers need to die. Go enjoy the world.

I lived there for almost 3 months. Long story, but I befriended two Egyptian Coptics (original Egyptians related to the Phoenicians), non-muslim Catholics. I stayed in their ethnic neighborhood with them, a place called Ezbet El-Nakhl, http://www.metropla.net/af/cairo… - I knew them from Namibia (teaching colleagues). I have a bunch of photos online if you want to see them. It's up to you. I was treated quite nicely when I was there. Of course this was in 1999 but it was also during Ramadan and things were a bit crazy, like no food places were open until after 5 PM and shit like that. But all-in-all beautiful people and great country. It's quite liberal for an Arab country.

If I listened to those damn State Department warnings I would have never had fun in Egypt, Sudan and Cuba. Your ass is your own; get hit, tough shit. "whatever, I do what I want".

a friend of mine used to live there for 5 months and met some americans, europeans etc. i visited him and asked about how it is. they said, it's fine. just go there. the young people are no different to us here. don't talk to extremists, and if some stranger asks you about israel - don't talk about israel. you never get that point.

the three areas within the center of the city, named after former and current president(s). Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak are where all the nicer areas are on the right-side of the Nile River. If you cross over that area in Sadat (I believe) you enter into the posh area of the city, Zamalek, but there are plenty of nice restaurants and shit to do. Not much night-life let me forewarn you, but at the same time, all-in-all it's great. If you going then study this map a bit: http://www.metropla.net/af/cairo… the subway will take you out even as far as Giza, where obviously, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphynx are located. Yet you will find McDonalds and other corporate spots around all of this. Don't expect Indian Jones Cairo. That's not what you are going to find. :)

DON'T EAT MEAT! never. i had a fireball in my stomach for 4 days...
- JazX0
make sure you get some of this Stella Beer: http://www.overlandexplorers.com…
Throughout the world, Egypt is recognized as the cradle of civilization. One of the most celebrated children to come out of that cradle was beer, which was first brewed along the fertile banks of the Nile thousands of years ago.

bahhh, pascii, I had plenty of meat and was perfectly fine. They do it well there. Of course, I had home cooking every night living with my buddies. Their wives rocked the house with that stuff. So yummy!

you want to see how your average Egyptian lives, it's like this, same kind of joint I lived in for three months: http://www.overlandexplorers.com…
- JazX0
on that note check these: http://www.overlandexplorers.com… it gives a rough look at real life of Egyptians. City of Dead, you can get some great photos, it's actually a very colorful place. Watch your back there though man. And overall, if your an American, I would not try and wear baseball caps and that kind of shit. Say you are Canadian to people it helps. :)
