I think we've all been in similar situations before, so be a cowboy and suck it up. You'll get through, I've always enjoyed your comments and your talent. It'll come back together, it has too! There is no choice!the wood

ooow man.... taxes suck. especially dutch taxes. they are naaaasty...
don't stress though... no need for that.
but, depending on what you got from them exactly, you always have some time to sort it out.
you can even stretch it some more if you send in a "bezwaar" and/or ask for a spread payment.
in the meantime harrass the clients who haven't paid. if you already send them 2 reminders than you can take legal steps. you could also contact a "incasso" bureau. there is a type where they pay you the cash right away minus their fee and they take care of the bill themselves...
to a certain amount you can even do it yourself. go to a "kantonrechtsbank". you can get a form there. if you fill it out and send it back to the court they will send your client a letter when they have to show up in court. but, just fill it out, go to your client (or call) and say that you are about to send that form.... worked for me. always paid me right away.
anyways, clients who don't pay on time suck anyways. ditch those.

thinking about this one now i was hard done and no credit many year ago and would you wonder more often than-i made cards for well wishing- greeting crad/or easter time holiday/well done on your wedding etc/ etc. i woked handmade for 4months in 90s. and made money by those means. i also did moving for money too!
- unknown0
how the hell do you need to pay 5000 euros on taxes? don't tell me you spend all the money you got without reserving 30% or so for income tax? i hope you didn't spend the VAT as well.
- rasko40
you did moving for money wendell? what, moving to music? where you a pole dancer??

oooh and another good tip is to go to a tax consultant. they are allowed to hand in the stuff a lot later than you are. i think it even goes up to 5 yrs. seek one out. let them send in a complaint. could save your ass.

oh boy, sorry to hear that, cY..
I'm in an similar situation, if it helps you.. the $$ i not as high, though, but I'm totally stuck also..
my plan is about selling the compi i have now and buying a new one and paying it over 36 months or so.. like 60-70 euro a month.. (damn I don't know the english word)
hoped that helped..

don't beat him up rabattski!
it's really hard when you're freelancing and don't have a steady cashflow to keep the right amount of money aside... if someone is meant to pay for a few months work and they delay it for a few months it can totally fuck up your finances unless you are really organised (god knows i'm not)
- 4cY0
thanks, rabattski.
it is partly tax. others are bills which i would have been able to pay easily if not the gigs got postponed or having to deal with very slow clients.
and as of yesterday i got 2 'tax-corrections' for 2001/2002 for at least a 1000 euros altogether..but it is probably unjustified and i have to go see my accountant tomorrow, i hope he has some advice on this whole fucked up situation.

Gee, sorry to hear. Maybe you should have saved more.

vespa: i'm a freelancer myself. i know what it is like. i actually have been in the same situation where 4cy is right now. actually it was even more money than 5G. i had so many bad experiences with certain types of clients (you know who those are) that i sort of changed my attitude and the way i do business with clients plus i'm no longer mr. niceguy when it comes down to business. i learned from it. be it the hard way though.
4cy: cool you have an accountant. def. talk to him/her. tax wise there's always something to arrange. regarding bills: did you actually send them reminders?
