    @epill

So you are really liking China, from what I see...
Question for you mate, do you see any progress in design for their internal market? A few years ago only the exporting industries looked half reasonable.

    • hmm tough question, since i am almost 24/7 in the factories solely working on my develops..e-pill1/22
i think asking mydo or jevad or ephix that you will get a better answer.. but..e-pill2/22
i will say that technology has come a long way from everything being made by hande-pill3/22
or cut and sew by hand.. now they have nice cad machines all doing it 3D printers and moree-pill4/22
getting developments completed today takes less than half the time it used to.e-pill5/22
not really sure how to answer the internal part as i am an outsider..e-pill6/22
the city i am in is rather small so i still feel like im back in china from last decade..e-pill7/22
in the big cities like hong kong, taipei, shanghai, beijing im sure the progress in design is high!!e-pill8/22
while the other large cities like shenzhen, dong guan, fuzhou are mainly factory cities..e-pill9/22
design yes, but a different aspect of it.. since its just factories.. of all kinds..e-pill10/22
from what i know. they are still very keen on copying everything. or just design them cute and childish. that's a sure sell. or have a pop star's face on it.pango11/22
... sell. or have a pop star's face on it. it is getting better though. but the general public (china) just don't buy what we called design in western society.pango12/22
...design in western society. Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia on the other hand is really booming (IMO). Taiwan has semi good design scene but highly influenced by japanese style.pango13/22
oh i went a bit side tracked...
depends on the city your at. ShangHai and HongKong definitely has a pretty good design scene.
      pango14/22
just realized sentence got cut off... taiwan has semi good design scene but highly influenced by japanese style.pango15/22
its the same in any big city asia or elsewhere, individual identity shines with design n creativitye-pill16/22
however in the smaller cities struggling to have any identity there is lacking lots of design.e-pill17/22
the factory that does our production knocked us off directly. they use our designs..e-pill18/22
our logo, our hardware, our materials and even our hangtags.. their name is ..e-pill19/22
SWISSWIN.. while we are SWISSGEAR. they sell in china only and the parent company-e-pill20/22
Wenger cant do a thing about it..because this is china and design is out the door.e-pill21/22

So I entered a bag design into a Eastpak competition ..
would be super if you liked it if you voted..

    • e-pill.. thus my questions the other day.. it was very much inspired by the transformerautoflavour1/68
well, the way the transformer can be super low profile while still carrying a laptop..autoflavour2/68
there are more images on the siteautoflavour3/68
ahhh another transformer bag.. memories!! haha cool!! best of luck!!e-pill4/68
did you already make this or is this a frankenstein of many bags pshoped into one bag?e-pill5/68
photoshop monster from about 6 bags, all sliced and massaged.. I wish i had the skills to build itautoflavour6/68
if you have time goto the apple store and check out thule's transformer bag.e-pill7/68
clone tool was used a lotautoflavour8/68
the bag looks soft construction yet, the items going inside are all electronic and need rigiditye-pill9/68
perhaps add some volume to the bag as its gusset looks very thin also add some detail itemse-pill10/68
      Thule bag also your design?autoflavour11/68
perhaps that lower zipper on the front panel, make it a heat fused water proof zipper in REDe-pill12/68
or make the zipper puller bungee in a pop colour. also perhaps strengthen the handlee-pill13/68
a webbing top handle to carry electronic items is uncomfortable. make it strongere-pill14/68
yeah, the point was to reduce the padding a lot.. i carry my DSLR in the bladder section of the transformer a lotautoflavour15/68
and its survived pretty well over the past few yearsautoflavour16/68
      thule is case logic..e-pill17/68
or case logic is thule how ever you want to look at it.. i designed for them 2 years agoe-pill18/68
fortunately the comp is basically pitching an idea, then if you make the final 6, they workshop and prototype it with youautoflavour19/68
you mention "transformer" which bag is that?e-pill20/68
thats RAD i wish you luck!! i can comment for days on this.. depends how much you want..e-pill21/68
      to hear..e-pill22/68
is the insert inside the bag or does it clip to the outside?e-pill23/68
i see 4 compression straps, 2 on each side, is this where the insert connects to or elsewheree-pill24/68
when using compression straps, usually its for a very large size gusset.. not a thin 1e-pill25/68
have you thought of the size of the bag? height, width, depth?e-pill26/68
i would add a sternum straap on the shoulder straps, as the weight may become too heavye-pill27/68
do you like KATA camera bags?e-pill28/68
the inserts are for the main compartment.. its all inside..autoflavour29/68
transformer, i mean the Camelbak transformer .. it was you I had that conversation with right?autoflavour30/68
      dont know KATA.. checking nowautoflavour31/68
there is a more detailed description on the link.. dimensions, volume etc..autoflavour33/68
i suggest to use nylon versus polyester.. as its nicer and has more value than poly.e-pill34/68
do your zipper only stop 1/4 from top or do they open more toward where the side compression straps are?e-pill35/68
also you are using a lot of buckles.. the price for this bag will be very high.e-pill36/68
if you make it to the final 6, would you be able to further advance the design of it?e-pill37/68
or is it as is? only?e-pill38/68
i ask about the zippers only due to the buckles inside, to where the inserts clip on..e-pill39/68
it might be difficult for the user to attach them if the zip opening is too small to get ine-pill40/68
you may want to add some seams on the front panel or some pleats to add volume.e-pill41/68
basically you pitch an idea, then they fly you there to workshop and prototype the ideasautoflavour42/68
they are then voted on and the winner is put into production in the following year by eastpakautoflavour43/68
      plus you get a 5000euro prizeautoflavour44/68
you can add more volume as you have 4 compression straps, the volume can be eaten by-e-pill45/68
compressing the straps and thus adding more functionality..e-pill46/68
definitely can adjust things, but only after you make it into the first round 6.. the entry is as isautoflavour47/68
i really wanted to have something with a low volume, if only to make people think about what they needautoflavour48/68
i love the way i can only carry a certain amount with the transformer backpack.. it stops me having a bag full of crapautoflavour49/68
but yep, all these suggestions are going into a word doc.. and i will definitely hit you up if i make it past this stage..autoflavour50/68
as for zipper length, would need to be long enough to reach inside and get lens, but not long enough to flop openautoflavour51/68
there is a lot i dont know about bag design (given this is my first) but i look at all the bags i have andautoflavour52/68
think of what i like and what i would change.. then tried to build a bag around that.. without making this http://onscreencars.…autoflavour53/68
you should take a look at Marmot's outdoor backpacks.. especially their shoulder strapse-pill55/68
they are very lightweight and very comfortable - http://marmot.com/pr…e-pill56/68
also look at their buckles,,they are more design forward than the standard black you usee-pill57/68
think shape and functionality.. look at other products in the backpack category and use ite-pill58/68
think material, think shape, think overall design and push it!!e-pill59/68
      again best of luck!!e-pill60/68
      here is Marmot's backpacks.
      http://marmot.com/ca…
      get further inspired!!
      e-pill61/68
yeah the marmot bags are super comfy.. i get a sneaking suspicion that any final design will likely be adapted by eastpak to their ready made parts..autoflavour62/68
eastpak to include their ready made parts.. but have to see.. anyway, thanks for all your thoughtsautoflavour63/68
understood about ready made parts but nothing wrong with pushing the limits of ur designe-pill64/68
i agree completely.. the straps need to be good..autoflavour65/68
      GET A ROOM!!!! GEEEZZ!!!!Hombre_Lobo66/68

I had a discussion about fluoridation last week which yesterday turned into an argument that I was finally able to get out of by personally requesting the KHI contact this woman regarding a mortality report they released years ago.

Also, do not replace dinner with Red Vines® unless you want to momentarily question your bowel health the next morning in the restroom like I just did. Everything. Red.

what a morning! I was just told a project that i have been working on for the past 4+ months is being scrapped. Although it feels fairly unsatisfying - i also feel quite relieved since the work was unsatisfying to begin with. but the good news, now i can focus my energy on rewarding projects that provide more value IMHO. congratulations to me i guess ;)

9 deaths in the news in 7 days in my community, most were avoidable, like...

Under truck that fell off jacks
Single car head on w/ pole
    Single car rollover
    Smoking on oxygen
    Motorcycle rear ends car
    TV falls on child

    I mean, c'mon people.
