thanks Blueman. NPFC is a collective of musicians that i am a part of. we've been recording music together since '97. i also did the site. flash video is fun as hell!
during the day i'm the Multimedia Director at J. Walter Thompson in Detroit.

Hey mnty.. great job with the site.. Is NPFC your company? or do you work for them? Did for come to you and then you took care of the rest?
- Mimio0
Yeah, it's all defunct. Most of the larger Ann Arbor firms have reshuffled too.
- mnty0
hahaa, Rare Medium, in the market for a new air-conditioner? Seriously now, it's great to work for someone who actually has clients.
- Mimio0
Mnty,
JWT subcontracts Rare Medium?

2Advanced does some pretty stuff, unfortunately they struggle with bad IA, bloated files that take forever to preload (and looking at the target market, the bubbas who own pickups are most likey of the dial-up nature and probably don't have patience for bells n whistles) and, when left to design a stand alone site without 3D/Chrome/Flash its a bit anti-climatic... I'd say with all those involved, video, design, etc, the site probably cost upward in the neighborhood of 750k (USD).
Still not a bad considering the market right now...

I wasn’t going to jump in but there seems to be a lot of misinformation surrounding the development of this project, so, i’m here to set the record straight.
I directed this project from start to finish for Ford’s agency in Detroit. The entire project from concept to completion took about 4 months. The 3D was created in London - directly from Ford engineering CAD data. These data files were roughly 20 gigabytes in size. Pretty intense stuff. The animation and render process took about 6 weeks. Upon completion, the TGA files were sent to 2 Advanced for timing corrections and additional touchups.
The green-screen shoot for Rick Titus happened here in Detroit. The footage was then sent to 2 Advanced for touch-ups and integration.
All visual design, flash animation and sound design was done by 2 Advanced. They were honestly the glue that brought all of these separate components together and made them work as one distinct piece. I work with 2A quite a bit and have nothing but good things to say about them.
As far as the cost, I won’t say exactly how much, but I will say it was more than anyone has mentioned here.

That's what they told me but don't you think that is a sarcastic way of saying "Don't ask me questions that will only help you compete against us."? I'm assuming it is. Three people doing all of that in a month, WITH all the 3d?? Yeah, they are very competent, but I don't think anyone's that good.

umm...
typical is 6-8 weeks with 3-4 full time resources with 2 client check points.
I don't understand how they did that in 30 days but congrats to them. Those days must have been sleepless and the resources must been very talented and pulled lots of double duty.

the content is really good too, I'm guessing the designers would have played a part in that, and that can be the hardest and most time-consuming thing to get right.
30 days is really impressive, theres quite a bit of 3d in there too.
- jevad0
30 days? that's impressive
- Mimio0
Wow, 2A is more efficient than I would have guessed. Good for them. Auto clients are tough.
- CyBrainX0
Here's what they had to say at the studio who did the work:
"1. We had 3 people on the project at it's peak.
2. We did the 3D animations.
3. We had 30 days to produce the entire site, which is about typical of a
high-end timeline."Somehow, I get the feeling he's being sarcastic.

I'm only on a tin pot connection today... so just looking at the lo-end, and that's taken about 7 minutes to load... and what does it load... another prelaoder..............AAAAAAAAA...
It's very much like CD Rom stuff I saw AKQA doing in 97.
(Probably the same size too)I like how you can swap bandwidth halfway through though... great idea!
and 200k are you sure? I see a crash heading again!
- Blueman0
man id like to know too..
- Mimio0
I would imagine that the design process would be fairly expensive considering all the 3D work with the truck itself. The video of the guy isn't too expensive. There's alot of people good with doing the head-to-toe green screen stuff. All this stuff defintely falls under 2A's capabilities, you might want to mail them and talk in general terms.

Its almost a great site.
What kills it is the narrator dude. Gives it a late night infomercial vibe...
Kind of like that site for the trade school in california.
- JazX0
I would say in the range of 100 to 200K but the again in this economy not.
- jevad0
where?
