yeah - I consider myself a type nerd but this is ridiculous

I began to be very interested in Typography recently, but this is a bit surreal. I'm just wondering what was the price tag on that job.

Logo here:
If in doubt the old one is the upper one. Apparently: "digital," "soulless" and downright "hideous,"
New logo at the bottom: Shows "character," "warmth" and a "profound respect for the past".

it has a slightly thicker overall body it seems, a bit more spacing..
especially the latter makes it a tad bit better..

in the "low five figures"

it's better than the UPS redesign, that's fer sure.
designer blackmail:
"hey, pay me $$$$$, and I won't put your logo on a 3-D beveled shield."
- 4cY0
btw.. the example sux..
bad scan (old logo), and the border distracts a lot..
anywhere some better examples available for comparison?
- 4cY0
i thought we were over the UPS-bitching now...
i mean, you guys think it is really that bad?
it'll need it's time to grow.
- balb0a0
sorry, just a convenient cheap shot.
forgot to take my smart-ass suppression pills today.

It's an improvement, but hardly newsworthy.

It does remind me that context is important, though. It doesn't sound like the assignment was to completely reinvent the identity.
It's actually kind of nice that the museum had the sensitivity to undertake such a subtle improvement -- and to commit $$$ to the project...

4cY - no I dont think its "that bad" - actually prefer it over the old one. Its the bullshit reasoning for the redesign and the "low five figured" amount they paid for it that bugs me. Not to mention getting new stationary etc with the new logo on.
- balb0a0
the "bullshit reasoning" could have been just a poorly written press release...
BTW - it's "stationEry"
