Do any of you know how to open the Mac OS X terminal window? It's all black magic to me. I looked on the MAC OS help and there was no mention of where it was and what to do with it. I have to do something that some of you wouldn't approve of.

The Terminal in located in the Utilities folder inside your applications folder. (/Applications/Utilities/Termina...

You can also get freeware Terminal helper apps such as 'JellyfiSSH' if you want to do stuff like store Terminal startup scripts (such as SSH into your webservers, window appearance options etc)

BTW.. It's a bit worrying that you want to use the Terminal but don't know how to use 'Find'! :)

Thanks. I guess I should have thought of doing that.

Indeed it's in utilities
It comes in handy to telnet or ssh to a webserver, personally i think it's very handy to change ownership and rights for directorys etc... For the mac it self i only use it some times to remove some files, when the machine tells me i have no rights or something to do this. But you gotta know what youre doing cause terminal wont ask any questions or warn you about what youre donig. So best to learn some unix comaands before you start with terminal.

Don't worry, I only want to get my FLEXlm host ID and never use the thing again. I already have what I need.
