I play both. Guitar is probably more versatile as a solo instrument, but if you can jam with people, bass is great (and will improve your guitar skills too).
Don't like any of those guitars though. Unless you're specifically after the setups on those guitars, then avoid signature models. Plus there's more to guitars than Fender. (that said, I love my Telecaster).
If you definately want a Fender though, look at the Made In Japan models. They're the best bang for you buck.
