personally (i'm a girl, k?) if i get an email from someone i don't know (but know but never given my address to), it's pretty creepy. sure you have gone long ways to contact, but it doesn't trigger slight bit of romanticism in me but more like "wah stalker!".
why not go for lunch with the buddy of yours to a place she might also go to? or does the company have cafeteria? that way it's easier for her to remember you too.
or if you email her, make sure to include "i really don't do this often but i was given no other options..." type of thing.
