try an email that says something like:
I was thinking about some design stuff, really wishing that i had someone to talk about it with but i don't really know anyone who's into design. Then I remembered how much i enjoyed talking with you at that party [don't point out how long ago it was] and thought that maybe you would like to meet for coffee and talk.
