That's happen to me as well.
Here's what I do. First I save every time before I render a preview - command s, command return.
Also like the post back I have a folder called "_clones" in my project folder. Every morning as I start developing my fla I clone a file and dump it in the folder as back-up; sort by date to find the last version. Do the same thing 3 months later when you make revisions so you can always go back.
