Just returned my iPhone X for an iPhone 8. Thought it was a big fail.
- Face ID worked about 60% of the time, then I'm typing in my passcode. It never got any faster or fixed itself as far as I can tell. Fingerprint recognition just worked.
- Swiping up for Home is a big fail. If I want to use my one hand to use the phone, I need to use my thumb to swipe up. Can't really hold the phone too securely without my thumb.
- Not being able to turn the phone on while it's sitting flat on my desk without having to hover my face over it to turn it on was a big turn off, especially while I'm testing code and QAing things.
Anyone else do the same? How do you like the 8?
I really would like to switch to Android but I really like how everything syncs to my iMac and Macbook Pro with an iPhone.
- I haven't found any of those things to be issues. I couldn't ever get my phone to turn on well the Home button/fingerprint combo, and the face ID works...MondoMorphic
- ...95%+ of the time, even at night, pitch black, etc. I can't say enough good things about the iPhone X. It's a night and day improvement, IMO. :)MondoMorphic
- Face ID works for me 95% of the time. You swipe up as you look at it with one hand. Tap to turn it on.ArmandoEstrada
- I got the 8 because I wanted to keep the fingerprint scan, avoid these issues, and save a few hundred bucks. It's basically the 7, but more slippery and fastermonospaced
- you guys and your iPhones lol, get over it, get a decent phone.fadein11
- I'm the opposite - Touch ID never worked well for me.inteliboy
