Got switched over to the iPhone X this weekend and have had no issues getting used to the lack of a home button. It felt very fluid and intuitive from the beginning. Control Center takes a little getting used to at the top right.
Portrait modes are really nice; I’m impressed at the photo quality with them, though, the Studio modes definitely require a solid background and perhaps even a dark background to avoid light leaking around someone’s face.
Didn’t think I’d care at all for the Animojis but my daughter who is almost 3 loves them. Fun to send text messages to her grandparents like that.
As I’m using it more and more I’m realizing one major advantage over a 7 or 8: the keyboard is a little wider and more spread out (I think) and the combo of that and faster hardware / faster OS makes typing so much easier than it was for me lately on my 7.
If you recall I got a Pixel 2 and had it for half a week before I returned it. The Android keyboard was really tough to get used to. I like seeing physical shapes for the characters on iOS. Feels easier to be more accurate. I also love that the alternate keyboard and voice to type icons are at the bottom. I used both on my iPhone 7 and it made the space bar much smaller. It’s quite a bit wider now with those icons at the bottom.
Overall really likening it. The notch is truly a moot point for me. I’m past the point of even noticing it. I think all the bloggers and YouTube reviewers obsessing over it just like to hear themselves talk.
With a case it’s definitely heavier than a 7, but it’s a negligible difference.
- there are so many great Android keyboards, that's the point with Android, you modify it to suit you prefs, with ios you get what you are given.fadein11
- you can change to 3rd party keyboards in iOS toomonospaced
- ah yes in 2014... haven't owned one for a lot longer than that. I stand corrected mono :)fadein11
- i used it in the store and i do like the downward swipe gesture. let us know how it works long term.since1979
- did you do the subscription plan with apple? wish they had that in canadaGnash
- ^ Yes.mg33
- the pixel keyboard has swype - no need to type...So much faster! And the camera — iPhone has a persistent water colour effect, don't you think?craigatkinson

- yes there's an additional app available, which crashes quite a lot. Is there an additional camera too to make up for that?craigatkinson
- actually, google keyboard app is better for ios that swype toocraigatkinson
- just like on android is an additional app available ... and your camera complaints don't seem to be the normmonospaced
- camera complaints are everywhere. Android comes with G keyboard as standard. Apple provides less function with luxury brandingcraigatkinson
- there are complaints "everywhere" on both sides, and many comparisons put the X on top, so really you're just voicing an opinionmonospaced
- Yes of course, all subjective, based on using both. I'm right though!craigatkinson
- you're right that the same keyboard you say is on Android is also on the iPhone and has been for 4 years .... congrats?monospaced
