If you're going to spend some money an art, instead of buying prints, why not go out and support your local artists?
It's common for people to paint impressionistic, abstract, landscapey looking paintings, so you could probably find some around.
It ties you more to your local place and helps encourage more beautiful art circulating about.

- I'd love to do that, need to find where to start here in Chicago. We went to some art fairs over the summer and a few things we liked were way too expensive. :(mg33
- I've noticed that here around san diego too. But i'm not really in the scene enough to find the hidden gems. One day i'll be able to afford it!capn_ron
