    Innovation Never Sleeps

    • Yeah, it's authoritarianism applied to quality control. I prefer Android, yet I don't see why you would criticize Apple over this.nb
    • Because it perpetuates Apple's lie that third party repairs are bad. Apple's certification is expensive and restrictive.face_melter
    • They do it with the newer MacBooks - intentionally making them almost impossible to fix or upgrade without spending inflated amounts for 'Genius' repairs.face_melter
    • Genius Bar said my fried MBP was a $1800 repair and no guarantees on data. Local shop fixed it overnight for $450 and full data recovery. Crazy.monospaced
    • Apple has always tried to be authoritariansince1979
    • They used to build machines purposefully open, to some extent. Personally it drives me mad how they closed up while still using off the shelf parts.monospaced
    • You can build a hackintosh. What more are you asking for?since1979
    • I plan to. People say that they can also be a headache and I've never done anything like it before. Hesitant to say the least.monospaced
    • Also it's impossible to get a 3rd party display anywhere close to what the iMac offers for anything close in price.monospaced
