    Help getting into Vim:

Vim is HORRIBLE repeat HORRIBLE till you know it. It's like that horrible teacher you had as a kid that when you left the school confounds - realised was your best teacher. I can't not use it now.

If your interested in the horrors of a complier language - this guy breaks it down well:

Being dyslexic c++ books are out the window, with so this got me coding my life long app idea (nearly done!). The advanced stuff comes when you need it.

Its not the most advanced but it gets the core concepts in your head one can start coding and build on that. (not free though!)

Git (another its a "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS" then the moment it saves your arse its your best friend. I think of Git as your pillow on your bed. You can imaging being without it till you are without it then you want it back!

I create a remote repo and push to it using Spider Oak (dropbox's paranoid brother) to sync. So I don't have to use public domains for my code.

Linux is the best thing ever. Get Mint and have fun. VM into any pc/mac needs. If you have a PC tower just get another hard drive to test it on. If you have a mac ... just format the bloody thing ;-)

    • ^ that one is brilliant!
I've been using Vim solidly for a year and still only scratching the surface. Macros on the fly ... nerd porn!
