Welll...... i did get my first job at Sony Music by creating what i thought were better rollout packages for artists already on their roster. They were already hiring a design position. But i edged out everyone else with that approach. Later on, i ended up working people people who also interviewed for that job, one of which was definately more experienced than i was at the time. So, it can work. I wouldn't waste your time if they aren't hiring.
