I read this earlier, which rang true to me..

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/201…

I'd never considered the Education market in the states and how that impacts upon their general sales trajectories.

So, they've fucked education, fucked over devs and techs, are idling where pads are concerned and I'd be amazed if people are still wetting themselves when the iPhone 9 comes out...

Innovation [to shoot self in foot] never sleeps!

    • re: education - there's some mention in the comments. Sorry, not clear.detritus
    • I'd make my next machine a Mac, after 20 years on a PC, if they released a successor to the cheese grater and proved they still have a focus on their core.detritus
    • I've given up on Apple giving us a plain, serviceable Mac. I find myself watching Hackintosh build videos and reading build guides more regularly .monospaced
    • Mm, my next machine will be a hackintosh dual boot thing. A shame for me — I've viewed the Mac dev landscape with jealousy for a long time now...detritus
    • ...if I come on soon I'll've missed the main show. Makes sense to build a computer that can be all three main OSs though.detritus
    • I get why they're doing what they do, but gone is the Mac as Apple as independent as things like the Amiga were. Beloved computers.detritus
    • ..or, more fairly, 'going'.detritus
    • I hope they come around, because they would win people back, especially creatives, if they actually gave us what we need (not what they think we want).monospaced
    • @detritus Why jealous of the Mac dev environment? There's not much you can't get on PC nowadays from Node and NPM to Ruby. Now that Win10 has actual Linux it'sETM
    • even closer. On the design side, I do wish Sketch was not Mac only though.ETM
    • I'm not jumping on WinX for a while, if ever, so don't get the new Linux bash. I dunno, there's just a LOT of neat arcane apps that are Mac only these days.detritus
    • Node and the like is still crap on Windows. If your pc is fast enough, just put that shit on a VM for web servers.section_014
    • I mean, it works, don't get me wrong. But lots of npm libraries have unix style scripts built in, and they fail when ran.section_014
