I'm currently on a Dell Inspiron 15 7000. (they gave it to me at work as a replacement when mine shit the bed) It's sold primarily for gaming but I'm satisfied with it for design work.

- no, but a lot of people do prefer the mac because the single-piece aluminum case is quite beautiful and feels very sturdy, and there its price is reflectedmonospaced
