Btw after watching it again last night, knowing how much in this movie echoes the original trilogy, Im pretty certain Maz Kanata is either a part of Yodas race, or directly related to him.

Like Im pretty sure in episode 8 she is going to take that hat off and her big floppy yodas ears are going to pop out, and shes going to get in a lightsaber fight with some sith guy.

JJ said she may have crossed paths with Yoda at some point and left it at that, and he is the one character that wasnt really addressed in this movie, so Im pretty sure she is there to fill that role of the wise old sage or whatever, and will be the Yoda of this series in the next 2.

    • Not to mention the fact that she is really the only one that talked about the sith or the empire. Hmmmm.... whats under the hat Maz??CygnusZero4
    • This could be fulfilling aside from the part about her being whatever species yoda may be.dorkKn1ght
    • i thought you didnt like this movie?inteliboy
    • I think she is a (good) Yoda analogue - a touchstone people familiar with the older films can relate to. The wise, wrinkly, old sage Who Had Seen Some Shit.face_melter
    • No. Luke Skywalker is the Yoda of this series.docpoz
    • Maybe in narrative terms - unlikely apprentice seeks out recluse to learn, but Maz is the oddball midget comfort blanket.face_melter
    • that's because you are a racist loldocpoz
    • you really didnt get that the first time you saw it?CALLES
