Big Thanks to autoflabia for fucking one of the more fundamental parts of the movie up for me as I was buying tickets last night - excellent stuff, fella, good work.

    .

That aside - i thought SW:TFA was great fun.

Not going to over-analyse things too much, because let's face it, it's fucking Star Wars, but I will say this at least -

Lucas doesn't get what it is we all wanted and wholly forgot how to create the magic he was once great at. Instead of making a well -made grown-up kids film that cannily worked for adults too, he made three idiot kids movies and then gutfucked the originals to turn them into idiot kid flicks too.

Kind of ironic that Disney seems to wholy understand the difference, so I'm looking forward to the next 10 movies and 14 TV series/specials/cartoons, or whatever else they're going to churn out.

    • George knew what made star wars star wars. He purposely did something pretty different with the prequels, not wanting to make the same movies again.CygnusZero4
    • Cant fault him too much for wanting to do something different, for better or worse. ITs always good to experiment, and it doesnt always work out.CygnusZero4
    • Spielberg hasn't veered too far from the quality his movies have had across his career - it's not the story that made the prequels shit, it was their direction.detritus
    • I like the prequels for what they are, cool sci fi shit. The acting and writing sucks but I never cared about that much in star wars anyway.CygnusZero4
    • When I want great acting and writing ill watch movies that basically arent cartoons made for 6 year olds. I like ths sci fi shit in them. Cool planets, ships..CygnusZero4
    • We're basically saying the same thing, but with some qualitative veering apart.detritus
    • Yeah, thats why Im forgiving of the acting and some of the writing in the prequels. Not expecting Citizen Kane.CygnusZero4
