I had the same issue with my brand new macbook pro. I bought it about two months ago and the fan would fire up even when doing fairly basic tasks and was so loud I thought I'd have to send the thing back.
Your post has just reminded me of that, because since then it's just occurred to me that it's been fine and hasn't noticeably happened since. Weird.
- Although it's possible I've gone deaf or had a mild stroke in the interim.set
