You could say that about anything. It's just context and semantics.

In theory you could eat a usb cable right now and call it food because it went into your stomach. Or roll a glass along a table and call it music because it made sounds.

Put something like that urinal in a gallery, then yes, you are making a statement, and very much could call it "art". Hell, you may see a urinal in a dumpster next to a discarded wedding dress - in context that could be art to someone who stopped and thought about it, even outside of a gallery.

    • ps - the debate about abstract or modern art being real art is boring as fuck. What is interesting about your question is what is NOT art, specifically.inteliboy
    • Cuz I'm tired of the question "but is it art?" There's always a heated conversation following that question as demonstrated above lol.pango
    • So I tried to rephrase the question attempting to see if I get different answer. It's like figuring out negative space to find positive space. Lolpango
    • i like your question. makes you think. as opposed to the boring "what is art?"inteliboy
    • Art is very broad and vague. So Im trying to go the opposite extreme. What's absolutely not art. Probably should have phrased it like that.pango
    • Perhaps I should call this thread an act of performing art or some sort. To get reaction from people. Just look at how worked up Marychain is. Lolpango
    • "What happens when someone question what is/isn't art"pango
    • Hey marychain why don't you tell this guy he's wrkng for this post on how it's all about perspective?. It's the same view as mine.monospaced
