I think the reason it's so boring is that so much of the film was shot on IMAX which is apparently difficult to use during speaking parts because of the sound of the cameras. There are plenty of overdub lines scattered throughout, but in order to shoot all that IMAX stuff the dialogue is sparse.
This makes for a movie with too many establishing shots, cutaways, and just general scenes of people punching each other.
But it is a beautiful film. The IMAX scenes are gorgeous. Just turn the sound off and put on a good ambient record and enjoy the pictures.
