portland is being overdeveloped like nobody's business. google fiber is moving in, and there are three condo-plexes within five square blocks of my apartment going up in inner southeast (something like 500 new apartments in total) ... however, the rents for all of these start at about $1300 / mo (for a studio) ... it's fucking outrageous, my half of a 2br / 2ba here is $500. the california influence is just going to tear this city's economy in two.
