I'd get a bunch of primes... the Canon 85mm 1.8 is very nice, the new 24mm 2.8 IS is pretty nice too... you can get a 300 F4 IS which is very nice, but then again, I'\m a nikon shooter who loves prime lenses, and has a 70-200 2.8 and a bunch of primes + a 24-85.....
For me, there's not much drama in the 24-70, yes, it's great, and very competent, I might get a cheaper 24-105 if I shot canon, then a 70-200F4 and spent the rest of my budget on something prime and wonderful.... maybe a 135 F2....
