What you could do ...
Move to Chicago with a plan to move to NYC. It is easier that way for many folks. Quite a bit of people get shelled shocked when they come to NY to live. Some make it with an ease and others freak out.
Chicago is an easy starter big city.
- If you can handle the crime in Chicago, you will feel so safe in NYC.
- If you can handle apartment in Chicago, hope you are downsizing from your current as you will down size even further in NYC.
- If you can handle the weather in Chicago, you will feel warm and cozy when you are here.
- If you think pace in Chicago is fast, reconsider moving to NYC.
- You have kids? Stay in Chicago. Unless you want to live in NJ.
- You think Chicago is dirty? Well try living with that x10.
- Hate the noise in Chicago? I know when the garage truck come every night and when the drunk kids go home.
