    This is a topic that pops up often on QBN. I think one of the main reasons for the People of QNB's outrage towards towards contemporary art comes from the fact that you consider yourselves as artists. The definition of art can be very broad, I think you can call yourselves artists if that makes you happy. But some of you will consider yourselves as part of the "artworld" (c.f. Danto's institutional theory of art) when in fact you have very little interest in it. From most of your posts I can see that what you value most if manual skill and the amount of time spent on a piece. If retinal art is where you draw the line, the so be it. I know multiplication and division is where I drew the line on mathematics but I don't claim that all new mathematical theories are bullshit just because I don't get them. I am no expert in art and hadn't heard of Ostrowski previously so I prefer not make any judgement on the value of his work, even after looking at the 3 images and and reading that "article".     Light some candles and do some oil paints if that's going to take some steam off but don't mix this and that.
