    1. Detailed control over exported files including PNG colour select and detailed compression controls.
    2. Fireworks is both a bitmap AND vector program making it ideal for both layout elements like rectangles and gradients. It's like having the but in the same app! if it's for web/screen only, you will be fine.
    3. Fireworks creates the best web ready images vs. ps.
    4. Transparent images come out clean and seamless in fw, whereas ps tends to get choppy with transparency.
    5. Fireworks handles selecting objects directly on the canvas very well. Photoshop's auto-select sucks so you always have to go to layers to select them.
    6. You can comp and design in FW faster than in PS and basic things like instant resizing, rounded corners, bevels, gradients and quick effects are very quick to create.
    7. You can work in pages and have master pages too.
    8. Export quality to web is smaller and cleaner in most cases than ps.

      I did love a lot of things about fw. Some of the PS usability is poo, like auto select.
