Yeah, I use a manual 25mm on a NEX & just pre-focus etc. Works great, & is all you need for street work. I have a 35mm but don't use it much, it's a bit too long for the narrow and crowded streets of London.I used these lenses (Voigtlanders) with a 5N but found that camera is annoyingly sluggish compared to a modest NEX 3, so I just got rid of it and downsized. It's a great camera for the price but took about two seconds to switch on and be ready to shoot, which is pants.
I hear the new version, the 5R is faster. :)
I recommend the 25mm Voigtlander — tiny black thing, unobtrusive, draws beautifully, terrific value for the modest price, poor man's Leica I guess. It's f4 which, again, realistically for fast pre-focused street work, is as wide as you'd go anyway. Usually it's f8 all the way if the light's available.
- thanks for the info!... especially about the startup time...vaxorcist
