I've had my 13" retina MBP for a few weeks now. I run it at a scaled resolution that's one notch up from the tiniest setting (largest pixel resolution, tiniest text size).
But I love the fact that the scaled resolution can give me so much screen real estate when I need it. That's one of the reasons that I bought the machine in the first place.
I haven't noticed any performance issues with running the scaled resolution, but I've never compared it to running the native resolution.
