    You kill a vegetable / fruit when you pull it from the ground, vine, or tree. Everything that is to be consumed by almost every species on the planet is living in some way before and during consumption. Be it a cow, worm, chimpanzee, or apple; why do only humans seem to have an issue with eating some species but not others? Reason is a very subjective rationale of thought to live by. Preservation is obviously not a human concern, it's an individual one that is not as widespread as others would prefer it be.
