    From a psychological perspective, the mundane explanation for events of such magnitude and inhumanity is often 'unbelievable' in the collective psyche. Public unwillingness to believe the truth, even when faced with facts of the situation, is often embellished with doubt and a search for an explanation that matches the horror of the event.
