Sounds like you have low testosterone - I recognise that ambivalence and unwillingness to engage in the usual dialog about ambitions; detaching and unmotivated. If you go to the doctor, then they might inject you with it, which is uncomfortable a tad, but after a few days you'll be zinging along like you always tell yourself you were like. Or, you could choose to explore this calmer take on life and become more satisfied with the less acquisitive outlook that it engenders. I no longer have health insurance, so getting the shots isn't an option for me, it's a slightly blubbery, nonchalant coast into middle age - slower music, falling asleep on the couch, no interest in cotd thread. It's fun to see the young people running round 'after things', striving to better their social position - it's all for naught, they've far less chance of earning more than their parents that their parents. Find things you enjoy doing and do them, you don't have to clamour for everything that looks cool. The people with that stuff don't enjoy it as much as you think you will, serendipity and new friends will bring you more joy than anything you can buy, but keep the utilities on if you can. Find exciting new typefaces and just sketch meaningless compositions with them.
