People who think that big new flat screen TV = overly exaggerated colors, overcompensated motion settings, high contrast, bright colors, etc.

A friend asked about tv settings on Facebook, describing a very "soap opera" looking quality to what they were watching. All these friends of theirs were raving about their uncalibrated, unrealistic looking TV quality saying "you get used to it" or "it's really cool after a while."

They're referring to the motion settings that result in the picture quality looking overly-realistic - you know, the ones that strip any semblance of original cinematic quality from movies and such.

    • Or how about the d-bags who would 'stretch-to-fit' their shows? Yeah. Hard punches for them.d_rek
    • people are quick to lower their standards, and I blame the TV guys for having defaults so shittymonospaced
    • also, why don't TVs havea built-in "no feature" setting where it's true to signal? Right?monospaced
    • interesting thought mono. You're bound to get some benefit from tv configs, like black levels for sure though.mg33
    • Shouldn't have to with a good source though. TV should default to a good picture in my opinionmonospaced
