I actually don't mind the sheer whiteness of it all. It's minimal to a point. The quality of the work tells me I'm dealing with a savvy designer. The "whiteness" of the site isn't a mistake. It's a statement.
The site seems to have an almost "design-less" quality so that the work can be the star of the show. It may be a bit bare without other design elements, but once I know I'm dealing with a smart designer I actually like to see chances being taken.
For touting their originality, designers are very lemming-like at times. I get tired of seeing what appears to be the same site over and over and over. This one's different.
