    To be perfectly honest there really isn't anything that keynote does that powerpoint doesn't do - and vice versa.

    What most keynote users prefer (myself included) is that the UI + UX of the application is superior to powerpoint. Where powerpoint might make adding an effect, editing a style or something very non-obvious keynote makes a lot of those things very accessible and easy to achieve.

    Beside that, the software itself is not pricey. It will also allow you to PPT format and retain virtually all of your styles/slides/etc intact. The only issue i've had is when exporting larger-ish tables, charts or graphs from keynote to ppt. Some things eventually get lost in translation.
