    Wow, I wasn't expecting the amount of emails or tweets concerning my response. So just to be clear...

    Yeah I think it's nicely done. It's creative, bold and goes above and beyond the prototypical way 99.9% of us have gone about getting a job. It took initiative, guts and a fair amount of savvy to pull it off. He took something so innocuous and flipped it on it's head turning it into something cool. He's got spunk and thinks outside of the box.

    The code is shit? Who fucking cares. This new company will teach him how to code and in what, 1 month... 3 months... his code will be bulletproof. Teaching code is easy.

    You know what's hard to teach? Everything I mentioned in the first paragraph above. That's why I said good job. I would have hired him in a heartbeat too.
